To DeFi or to Defy?

Crypto Week 13 March 2023 – Discourses

Cryptonosis shuffles onto the stage corner and sniffs.

Cryptonosis: (speaking to self) This saga seems straight out of a Shakespearean fable… But alas, such are happenings in crypto. A speech that few speak and even fewer understand, with so many questions.

To Bit$ or not to Bit$? To Eth$ or not to Eth$? To NFT$ or not to NFT$? To DeFi$ or not to DeFi$?

Cryptonosis – CCDC

(scratching head)

Am I supposed to answer these questions or tell a Shakespearean tale out of them? I choose the latter, as I set out to search out all things Crypto. Now, let us lay out the scene.

(Moving to centre stage and calls out)

Where art thou Bit$? Whither art thou Eth$? How farest thou DeFi$? Might I add NFTs? Where art thou everything crypto?

Trappings and clinks respond to the call.

Bit$: Here at 23K in the morning but there is no telling where I would be in the evening… Mooning past the 24K mark and going golden.

ETH$: Over here. Hobnobbing between 1.5K and 1.7K, not too bad, eh? Steadying stakes, for sailing this ship swiftly to, and safely through Shanghai.

NFT$: Dost thou calleth? I just had a roller coaster high, playing dodge ball with bids and bits.

Cryptonosis: (responding with a frown) ‘Twas a game of knots. Ordinal-ri-ly speaking, I dodged those balls on twelve sides without a win. That discord is growing big.

(glancing aside to others) How are tokens in your keeping?

ALT$: Not sure where I am at the moment, as my tokens are dancing a double dig-it in f-losses and prances.

SBC$: I was where I was for a while, until the silver gate leading to my stables became a going concern. Now all that venture into my stables would need a signature.

Wall Street: Thou obviously had not heareth the latest collapses circling the valley. Alas, a signature holds no more. It feels a bit too wobbly and you need to peg steady to make it through this. As the predicament is dai-re.

Cryptonosis: (speaking harshly to Wall Street) Might I see thy Proof of Invitation to this discourse?

Wall Street: My Proof of Attendance will suffice.

SBC$: (speaking to Wall Street) Thou doth speaketh fairly, but no need to FUD. As I 4C potential for exchanges and traders to shore up more of my coins as anchor for the storm.

(As an afterthought and whisper) I’d better keep mute as the SEC-retary decideth on whether I be a security or nay.

SEC-retary stomps onto the stage.

SEC-retary: I heard that! Dost thou not knoweth that my ears are glued to the blocks?

(clears throat) Errmm…sorry to be a bearer of more FUD or not… but you 4C inaccurately as news has reached my ears that your billion shores have been ushered to other shores.

Hence why I bid one as I bid all, look to me.

Cryptonosis: But thou only speaketh in parables. No one, including thyself, understands where thou standest.

SEC-retary: Hear me! Hear me!! How many times did you hear me?

Cryptonosis: Mhmm, before I could respond.

SEC-retary: (interjects) Worry not thyself. Hear me!!! Everything but Bit$ is likely a security. So saith I.

Cryptonosis: Huh? That leaveth me more confused than when thou sayeth nothing.

Market$: (responding to SEC-retary) Dost thou saith that, knowing fully, my speculative leaning and sentimental nature? You hurt my feelings.

SEC-retary: (unapologetically responds) Then find a way to bandage your wounds to stop the bleeding.

Cryptonosis: (shaking head) What hope is left then?

DeFi$: (cries out) I am here!

Cryptonosis: Interesting. Ser, I perceive a whiff of confidence in thy voice. Might I ask where you derive this confidence in these trying times?

DeFi$: Yes you may, and I shall speak freely.

(DeFi$ points to allies, standing on its right and left)

Cryptonosis: Ser, you did say you would speak freely but all I got is you pointing freely. How does this help our discourse?

DeFi$: Well you see, I point to DeFi$ defying the downturn…these make-th me durable like synthetic.

Cryptonosis: Indeed. I see. Best of luck to you ser.

I see clearly how happenings in the last week have left most weak. Probably I can surmise this discourse with my thoughts.

(Nods his head, signifying that he now understands the scene. Moments later, his head starts moving in a sideways motion revealing that he doesn’t.

Looking up in pensive reflection, he speaks.)

Cryptonosis: Alas, it doth appear to me that crypto things are cryptic; happenings making sense in a moment, until they don’t. And yet, even then they mayest well do.

Buidlers continueth to lay the blocks of transparency, decentralisation, accountability and self-custody for many a chain.

Chains will rattle and break or forge in these winter fires.

Giveth not thyself over to FUD. As time standeth not still, so do happenings in crypto.  

When the winter is over, that which doth not hodl true will give way to that which doth hodl, true.

For I doth perceive that these blocks can not be chained.

(smirks) Ah, now I may yet have figured things out.
